This Piceance-East Douglas bachelor stallion was all over the place the day we were visiting. He was desperately trying to win a family and his attitude and scars reflect his efforts. Last time I saw him, he was still a bachelor. Maybe next year buddy.

Hello pretty girl.

Love your long, flowy mane.

This stocky bay roan stallion has a new family member. At least, I’ve not seen her with him before. She is the mare standing next to him in the photo. He was protective of his little band and they didn’t stick around long. This is the way I like to see them. Still wary. Stay safe with your little family JR. (Piceance-East Douglas HMA, CO)

Bay in the Brush

The colors are already starting to turn in the Piceance-East Douglas HMA.  As I was walking through, enjoying the changes and some horses in the distance, this nice bay horse came out from behind some of the brush. I’m always amazed by how well they’re hidden in all the vegetation and what a nice surprise it is when they pop out to say hello. 🙂
