Piceance Creek Wild Horses At Canon City BLM Facility
November 6, 2011
Tom and I went down to the Canon City, CO BLM facility last Friday to photograph the horses that were rounded up this Fall from the Piceance Creek/East Douglas HMA. These trips are hard on the heart because there are so many horses (and familiar faces) there, with more on the way coming from the Divide Basin roundup going on right now in Wyoming.
I have posted an album of available horses (weanlings, pairs, geldings and mares) on my Facebook page (“Pam Nickoles Photography“). The direct link to the album is: https://www.facebook.com/NickolesPhotography#!/media/set/?set=a.2219089473627.2107325.1139356307&type=1).
If you see any horses in this album that may be of interest to you (or possibly someone you know), the contact number for more information is (719) 269-8539. E-mail or message me if you’d like me to try to get a tag number for you on any of these horses (info@NickolesPhotography.com). I can also pass along an e-mail address for the person to contact down at BLM. Please feel free to share this album. There are so many horses that need loving homes. Thank you!

Before His Capture…
December 5, 2010
Part of the reason I went down to the Canon City, CO BLM facilities last Friday was to look for horses I’d photographed in the field (to document their continuing stories), as well as bring attention to and showcase the many beautiful horses available for adoption. Of course I hoped I wouldn’t find any that I recognized (and I haven’t yet gone through all the photos), but it was not to be. In the Piceance Creek (Colorado) stallion pen was a big, bay stallion that had been in front of my camera before. He had been a proud band stallion that I had spotted in an area they call “Pinto Gulch.” Since telling his story on Facebook, there’s been some interest in getting him placed somewhere. If he can no longer run free, the best we can do is find him a new, loving family/home. And that is my hope for this boy…and the many other horses in holding.
If you’d like to find out more about this stallion, his tag number is #7872. The photo album of horses photographed at Canon City: https://nickolesphotography.wordpress.com/2010/12/05/canon-city-co-blm-adoption-12310/
Update (4/5/11): This stallion has found a new home in New Mexico.

Canon City, CO BLM adoption 12/3/10
December 5, 2010
Tom and I spent yesterday down at the Canon City, CO BLM facility. There are many, many beautiful horses there that need homes. I have posted an album of some of them on my Facebook page (“Pam Nickoles Photography“). If you see any in this album that may be of interest to you, (I fell in love a hundred times over) the next adoption day is December 17th (you’ll need prior approval to attend – (719) 269-8539). Horses with red tags are Colorado (Piceance Creek HMA) and the blue tags are Wyoming horses (Salt Wells and Adobe Town – mixed). E-mail or message me if you’d like me to try to get the tag numbers for you on any of these horses. I can also pass along an e-mail address for the person to contact down at BLM. Please feel free to share. I’d love to see these beauties in some loving homes. Thanks!
