Photo of the Week – 4/20/21

Shy, sweet Gracie hides in the brush. She was such a pretty little mare. A couple of other Piceance observers noticed that she appeared sick several days after giving birth and though we and a BLM employee looked for her, she and her little one were never found. In memory. Piceance-East Douglas HMA, Colorado (9-2012)

I wish that were so Kelly, but she hasn’t been seen in years. The hardest part of getting to know these wild ones is when they go missing or are rounded up. π¦

As it is with any wild animal you get familiar with. In my case, its the deer – between vehicles and hunting, too often they just disappear or I see where they have been hit. Its hard. But just like you, Pam, being able to see them & somewhat be around them means a lotl.

You are so right Maggie. Hard to lose any of the wild creatures you become familiar with.
