Photo Of The Week – 12/10/13

This young stud has grown and filled out nicely since the last time I saw him. He was with 2 bachelor stallions who obviously took pretty good care of him. (See that story here: “A Magical Encounter”). He’s still with one of the bachelor stallions – an older gray that I can always find at the top of Cathedral Bluffs. (Piceance Creek HMA, 9/2013).

Went back & reread the Magical Encounter. Just a little over a year ago. Was so wonderful the way all those bands came up to check you out & were so curious. The whole idea that those 2 bachelors raised that colt – really amazing. But with the little tiny bit we actually know about their way of life – there is so much more to be learned. The roundups need to be stopped, Pam. Looking at how curious & unafraid all those horses were – makes me so sad what humans are doing to them. Keep on documenting OUR wild horses & burros – there are so few of them now that are free.

Its hard to believe no one else commented on this picture & story. The pictures of this horse when he was a foal & being cared for by 2 stallions were great! I forwarded this to several people so they could see how amazing wild horses are.
