McCullough Peaks Stallions – 9/11

September 24, 2011

The first afternoon of our vacation was spent at the McCullough Peaks HMA just outside of Cody, WY. Shortly after our arrival, we spotted these two bachelor stallions.

Giving the bay boy just a little nudge.

With a little more determination now.

The pinto finally gets his response and the game is on.

And as quickly as it started, the sparring is over and the pinto is off to seek out trouble/fun elsewhere.

A great start to our week of vacation! Many more photos and stories to follow…

  1. Pam,
Are you planning on coming to southern WY to photograph any of the horses in this area? We have been watching them on Green Mountain and in the Salt Wells quite a bit- they are numerous in those areas….
    Love your photos!

Hi Christi – I have photographed horses in both those areas several times over the years. If you enter either “Green Mountain” or “Salt Wells” in the Search box on my Blog, there are several stories/photos from each location. ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks for your comments and kind words!

A little testosterone itch needing to be scratched. Great series. Gorgeous guys. Thanks for sharing.

Exactly Harriet. Always fun to watch. ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. Margaret Says:

Such fun! And no worries about the boss, getting up on time. Can play when you want.

That’s the life I wish they all had.

Maybe that’s why BLM hates them so much. Their jealous!

  8. Jim Westin Says:

WOW…great series. They were doing the same thing at SWB last time we were there, but “the fight” never really got off the ground….maybe we got there too early for the horses. ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. Brandi Says:

Again, you have transported me with you on your vacation, these pieces are beautiful, and I know that I was there with you when they were taken as you make sure that we all see what you have seen.

    Thank you
See working on the other matter. HUGS

  10. pnickoles Says:

Hey Margaret – yup, just being horses. ๐Ÿ™‚

    Hi Jim and welcome back!

    Thanks Brandi! ๐Ÿ™‚
